The Thailand Vietnam Socio Economic Panel (TVSEP) is a long-term research project funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) in cooperation with Prof. Dr. Hermann Waibel and the Institute of Development and Agricultural Economics.

The overall goal of the project is to complement existing panels in industrialized countries by establishing a unique, multipurpose and long-term socio-economic panel in the emerging economies of Thailand and Vietnam. The data are made accessible to the international research community free of charge.

The TVSEP database consists of eight household- and five village panel waves, which were collected during the period of 2007 to 2019. The household and village surveys were conducted with a sample of almost 4400 households in 440 villages in rural areas of six provinces in Thailand and Vietnam. Since 2016, TVSEP has conducted surveys using Computer-Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPIs), which reduce post-survey processing by making data entry redundant.

Now a documentary film has been produced as part of the project. The film gives an overview of TVSEP''s activities. It contains short video clips, interviews with key persons and commented slide shows. The documentary was produced for the general public, but it can also serve as background information for potential data users.

For all those who are now curious and would like to gain further insights into the project, the film can be found under this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFEkWUOq2wk. Find further information about the project here: https://www.tvsep.de/en/overview/.
