Healthcare provision planning is gaining importance as a means to combat a lack of general practitioners, particularly in more rural areas. In their study “Versorgungsgradprognosen als Baustein einer evidenzbasierten Versorgungsplanung“ (engl. „ Care supply projections as a building block of evidence-based health services planning”), Prof. Dr. Stephan L. Thomsen, Kai Ingwersen and Insa Weilage aim to predict the demand for contract GPs in Lower Saxony until 2035. The original article was first published in 2021 in the journal “Zeitschrift für Evidenz, Fortbildung und Qualität im Gesundheitswesen“. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.zefq.2021.02.002
This outstanding research was awarded the annual research prize “Regionalisierte Versorgungsforschung” (engl. Regional Health Services Research) by the Central Research Institute of Ambulatory Health Care in Germany (ZI – Zentralinstitut für die kassenärztliche Versorgung). Congratulations!
