GUEST stands for the German-US-Economic-Studies Term Student Exchange Program between the Faculty of Economics at Leibniz University Hanover and the Department of Economics or the College of Business Administration at California State Polytechnic University Pomona. CalPoly Pomona is located near Los Angeles, California. The GUEST program consists of two parts, the HISSEMA (Hanover International Summer School of Economics and Management) and one semester at CalPoly in Pomona.


COMPOSITION OF THE GUEST PROGRAM

  • HISSEMA

    The HISSEMA (Hanover International Summer School of Economics and Management) offers international students the opportunity to gain study experience in Germany and to listen to lectures on economics and business administration in English, for which credits can be obtained.

    For the German GUEST students, HISSEMA is part of the exchange program. Participation is also possible - to a limited extent and under certain conditions - for German students of the Faculty of Economics at LUH who do not participate in the GUEST program.

  • Fall Semester at the CalPoly Pomona

    The Fall Semester of the American academic year opens up the possibility for students of the Faculty of Business and Economics in Hanover to spend a study period in the USA.Courses on economics and business administration successfully completed there can be used as credits for the B.Sc. program in Hanover.

    California State Polytechnic University, Pomona is located in California on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County. It is one of the seven polytechnic universities in the United States of America. The university has had university status since 1972. A total of 23,000 students study on campus.

  • Evidence of financial viability (min. $7,000.00 U.S. dollars).

The application deadline for the faculty's exchange programs during the academic year 2021/22 (WS 21/22 and SoSe 2022) is January 31, 2021.

Proof of language proficiency

English B2 level must be proven by one of the following documents (preferably not older than two years):

  • Language courses according to CEFR reference framework (LLC, Vhs etc.). A certificate of course enrollment is sufficient as temporary proof until Jan. 31. After passing the exam, please submit the copy of the certificate automatically.
  • DAAD language test from Leibniz Language Centre
  • TOEFL-test
  • Other evidence (feel free to contact us)

EXPERIENCE REPORT (ONLY AVAILABLE IN GERMAN)

In order to make the best choice of your university abroad, you should draw on the wealth of experience of previous outgoings.


AFTER SUCCESSFUL APPLICATION

After a successful application, you will be proposed to the respective university abroad and we will organize an information meeting on the further process. You should take part in this meeting so that you can get a detailed overview of the next steps as well as information about the crediting of study achievements abroad and possibly ask questions if you have any doubts. The following points come your way:

  • Application to the partner university (please note the deadlines of the partner university!)

  • Submission of the learning agreement by April 30th

  • if necessary, fill out the crediting form without any “Pauschalanrechnung” 

  • apply for a semester on leave, if necessary 

  • if necessary, changes to the learning agreement by October 31th. notify
