ERASMUS

The Erasmus + program is a program of the European Union. It was set up with the aim of improving the quality of higher education, strengthening the European dimension, promoting cross-border cooperation between universities and facilitating European mobility in higher education. Furthermore, it should promote the transparency and the academic recognition of study achievements and degrees in the EU. The central components are the recognition of academic achievements abroad using the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and financial support for exchange students.

Language requirements

Please note that when applying, at least a good knowledge of the lecture’s language (s) with a level of B1 / B2 (English mostly B2) is required and must be proven by one of the following documents (if possible, not older than two years):

  • Language courses according to the CEFR reference framework (LLC, Vhs, etc. A certificate of registration for the course is sufficient as temporary evidence until January 31st. After passing the exam, please automatically submit a copy of the certificate).
  • DAAD language test from the Leibniz Language Center
  • TOEFL test and comparable tests
  • High School Degree’s certificate (is often not accepted as evidence by the host university)
  • Other evidences (please contact us)

We therefore generally recommend that all students try to obtain language certificates as early as possible and take appropriate language courses (English and / or the language of instruction).

There are numerous courses from Leibniz Language Center (LLC) and especially for Students of the Faculty of Business and Economics which are very suitable as preparation for a semester abroad.

So please also inform yourself on the websites of the partner universities in question, as the required language levels may vary! See the respective links in the tables below. The information on our homepage is therefore non-binding.

Further notes on required language skills and language certificates for a semester abroad you can also find on the website of the University Office for International Affairs
